Gaye Klopack, alto
Gaye Klopack graduated with an M.A. in Vocal Pedagogy from Northeastern Illinois University in 1997 and has been a choral director and voice teacher in Chicago for over 20 years. In 2009 she was honored as a “Distinguished Teacher” by the United States Department of Education for mentoring a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. In November of 2010 she was the featured cover story for Choral Director Magazine.
Klopack has performed as a classical artist and as a jazz vocalist in the Midwest and is a frequent guest lecturer for the Chicago Institute of Jazz as well as a former board member of the Chicago Jazz Orchestra. She recently released a new CD recording of jazz standards, Small Day Tomorrow.
Among her students are a YoungArts and two GRAMMY-Baldwin winners. Some have appeared on WFMT radio’s Introductions along with her choir. They have also been finalists in Classical Singer Magazine Contest, Schmidt Youth Vocal Contest and NATS regional and Chicago Chapters. Gaye has been a member of CCA since 2014 and is the group’s alto section leader.
